hello TiVo
February 26th, 2003
It just got here, it's so pretty. All shiny and new. It only took 3 days to ship, as I suspected.
new buttons
I get four new buttons and a switch:
one for TV input, i can now switch between video sources from the TiVo remote
one for "Window", this is a mystery. The book says functionality may be added in future TiVo service update. (I can't wait to see what that is for. Picture in Picture?)
one for info, this brings up the channel banner (the same as pressing the right arrow, but it brings up all information, i.e. it doesn't show the minimized channel banner.
one for guide. This is different from the old TiVo. I used to have one button for guide and live TV. Now these buttons are separate.
the switch lets you select between two TiVos. Wow cool two TiVos in the same room. There's an idea.
update: I just realized I lost a button "List", one of my most used buttons. The ink has warn off of the old remote I used it so much. Now I have to press TiVo twice to get to my recorded shows.
running well
Everything seems to be running nicely.
Its much faster than the series 1 TiVo. The menus come up much quicker, and the guide and info buttons bring up program info instantly.
I need to wait 4-8 hours while it indexes the shows before I can start setting up the season passes, but It's got all the guide data and is already recording.
