Al-jazeera's english language website.

Chinese advertisers who paste stickers on walls and lamposts are getting spammed into submission by the police. The police have a new system that calls the mobile phone numbers of illegal advertisers every 20 seconds. The call plays a pre-recorded message "You have broken the law by posting illegal ads. You must immediately stop this activity and go to the Hangzhou Urban Administrative Bureau for punishment."

Soon, cell phone numbers are going to be available via 411 Directory Assistance. Just like your regular phone, you may be forced to pay extra for an unlisted cell phone number. Why don't I believe them when they say "the database of wireless numbers will be off limits to telemarketers"? The beauty of having a cell phone is that only the people you want to have the number get it.
