I need your opinion

I am trying out a new "blogs of antiquity" section on the side bar. Instead of having a list of links over there, I put up a couple of drop down boxes. Those are the whagamigigies that look like this:
I can't decide if I really like them or not. They do provide for a more compact sidebar, but I think they are kind of ugly. (I hate how I cant even get the two of them to be the same size.)
Take a look and tell me what you think. The old archive navigation is down at the bottom of the sidebar, if you want to compare.

Actually, I like it very much. Seems much more user friendly. Especially for old ladies.

it's so easy to use, and it's much more compact, so the next section (viewer support) shows up higher and is likely to be on the first screen view.

i concur. i like it more now that you made the drop down bar "blogs of antiquity." i think that's more intuitive. good idea.
Have you seen this before? It's a number guessing game: http://www.amblesideprimary.com/ambleweb/mentalmaths/guessthenumber.html. I guessed 34355, and it got it right! Pretty neat.
