Grocery Day
August 2nd, 2003
Today is grocery day. I started off with the usual online ordering process, but when there was no delivery time available for tomorrow I decided that I would roll down to the store to pick up some things that I would need for the weekend.
When I got to the store, I started by picking up my usual Ball Park Beef Bunsize Hot Dogs and Pepperidge Farm Top Sliced Buns. I then moved over to get some cheese for those dogs, and I noticed a pricing dilemma. On the web site the cheese was on sale for $2.50 a bag, in the store it was $2.99. Hum, I wonder how many other pricing differences there are?
Here are the results from some of the items I bought:| Item | Store Price | Online Price | Store Price Difference |
| Ball Park Bunsize Beef Hot Dogs 16 OZ PKG |
$4.29 | $4.29 | $0 |
| Pepperidge Farm Top Sliced Hot Dog Buns 8 CT PKG |
$1.99 | $1.99 | $0 |
| Lays Bistro Chips 9 OZ BAG |
$2.89 | $2.89 | $0 |
| Eggs Grade A Extra Large |
$1.29 | $1.15 | + $ .14 |
| Scotch Brite Sponge 3 CT PKG |
$1.99 | $2.49 | - $ .50 |
| Organic Romaine Hearts 12 OZ BAG |
$2.99 | $4.99 | - $2.00 |
| Skinless Boneless Chicken Breast 1 LB PKG |
$2.49 | $5.29 | - $2.80 |

What is the moral of this story? I don't really know for sure, but it looks like it's OK to order prepackaged items from the web, but go to the store for fresh food. Eggs and Scotch Brite pads however don't seem to fall into place.
