Comment Blacklist
November 16th, 2003
So you probably haven't noticed, thanks to my über-cûël webmeister skills, but my comments have been getting spammed lately. This has been a growing problem on blogs as spammers have discovered they can raise their Google PageRank by posting comments with their URL included.
What does this mean? Well, it's complicated, but the way that google works is by searching every single page on the web and finding out where all of the links go. The more links that point to a page, the more important Google thinks it is. Therefore, if you can put your link on a bunch of pages with the words Cell Phone associated with that link, then Google will think you are the most important person in the cell phone world. Google will then put you at the top of the list when a search for cell phone is typed into the search engine.
Now why am I telling you this? I just installed a new plugin called mt-blacklist. It's supposed to filter out all of the spam coming into my comments, but leave all of the legit ones. If your having any problems getting through when posting comments let me know, so I can fix it.

incidentally, i see that you're currently watching adaptation. how is it?
