Holidays are for Eating
December 17th, 2003
My office holiday party is tomorrow. Here is the menu:
Heavy Hors D'oeuvres- Large Crudite Platter with assorted vegetables and two sauces
- Miniature Maryland Style Crab Cakes
- Miniature Peking Duck with scallions, pancakes and plum sauce
- Grilled shrimp with a red bell pepper coulis
- Singapore vegetable wontons with a soy dipping sauce
- Sushi three ways (Spicy tuna roll, Salmon roll and California roll)
- Angel hair pasta and spinach and goat cheese stuffed ravioli with a choice of basil pesto sauce or red sauce.
- Sliced tenderloin of beef with Madeira and wild mushroom sauce.
- Mini rolls with horseradish crème sauce to accompany.
- Late fall field greens with goat chees and sherry walnut vinaigrette.
- Garlic mashed potatoes and shallot scented mixed vegetables.
- Brownie station featuring warm brownies, vanilla bean ice cream, crushed Oreos, kit kat bars, chocolate sauce, copped peanuts and whipped cream.
It all sounds great except for that dessert. How about something a little more adult than a brownie bar?
I also think I'm gonna take the beef tenderloin and mix it with the mini rolls. That sounds right nice.

Sounds like an awesome menu.........is this for real? We had spiral baked ham, sweedish meatballs and Mexican 7 layer dip!
our xmas party (well, as of wednesday of this week, it's officially the xmas/hanukah party, but all the decorations are still for xmas) is today, so i'll comment later on our food. however, i can imagine that, like mom, 7-layer dip will be prominently featured. i doubt anyone will make a ham or spend their paychecks on meat. chances are it will be ten kinds of pace picante dip, 19 bags of tostitos, 7-layer dip, and, perhaps, some HEB-bought cookies. mmm, the spirit of jesus. tasty.
