IceRocket

August 4th, 2004

After my last post about netflix, Google dropped me from their index. I don't know if they missed the site in the last scan of the web, or if netflix got pissed and complained, but for whatever reason I am not even found on google in regards to any search on netflix.

Yahoo, Wisenut, Altavista, and AllTheWeb still have me at number one, but today I found a new search engine icerocket.com, and I am all over the place. Look for yourself and right now on the first page there are no less than 8 out of 20 references to the site.

I'm kinda pissed at google now and hope they re-index my site next time, but until then, I'm glad that I have so much other recognition.

As a side note, icerocket.com rocks as a search engine. I love the Quick View feature as well as the Max view, thumbnails, and autosearch of the Wayback Machine. I can't figure out what the [Info] button does, but maybe it's just broken right now. If things work out, as Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is gambling, this might become my new default search engine.

have you ever thought of adding a visitor counter to the bottom of your site -- or perhaps on the right margin below the other stuff?

If you look on the about page there is a counter. I thought that it was ugly and a little amateurish to put the thing on every page, so read down past the "most active viewers", there you will find it "This site was last updated on..."
