STUDIOS Architecture’s design for Internet banking company E*Trade Bank expresses the core values of the company, and
successfully integrates the diverse program of call operators and portfolio managers into one high-energy space. The designers
created a vertical campus of open floor plans, producing interactive work environments and fostering collaboration. The team
successfully avoided the stodgy image of a traditional bank by eliminating ceiling and office partitions, and by using bold
colors and finishes to unify the space. Flooring is a key design element, expressing the bold graphic lines and dynamic colors
that define all E*trade offices.
A custom carpet from Bentley Prince Street, composed of stripes that vary in width, mimics the horizontal layout of exposed
cable trays and wood panels. The bold carpet constructed of Antron® Legacy nylon is a unifying element among all E*Trade
Bank offices. “This design statement is definitely not for the meek - the carpet colors, patterns, forms and stripes take
the design to a new dimension, far away from the conventional office environment,” Juror Daroff said.
